I see one big common idea of context between Ice Age and Rio. For once, 'the main characters 'thought to be the last of its own kind. Manny and Elly thought that they were the last mammoths, same here for Blu and Jewel. 

Second similarity, they have family later on. Peaches was born to the mammoth couple. Blu and Jewel now has 3 kids to take care of. And both families went on a great adventure in their own story.
