Rio Multiplayer Party Game! is a video game based on the film Rio and was released on April 12, 2011 by THQ, made for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and Wii. Its gameplay is similar to that of the Mario Party series. Players can choose from 6 of the series' main avian characters, namely Blu, Jewel, Rafael, Eva, Pedro, and Nico.

The Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 versions has three exclusive bonus mini-games included, as stated on the cover of the game.

Gameplay[]

Players can select which character they want to play as, from Blu, Jewel, Eva, Rafael, Pedro, or Nico. They can play 40 (43 in the Xbox 360 version) mini-games in the game (similar to the Mario Party series). Mini-game areas include the Smuggler's Den, Beach of Rio, Rainforest of Rio, Moose Lake, and the Carnival Parade. In story mode, the birds play through Moose Lake first. The game includes pop quizzes about Brazilian culture within the movie. It appears to happen after the movie, seeing as all characters do what they want to, and Nigel is powerless against numbers.

Trivia[]

  • Nigel is the only Major antagonist/character that never been seen in the game.
  • In the film, the marmosets are anti-heroes, but in the game, they’re interacting the birds like the film, which may cause confusion.
  • Eva has a large role in the game instead of the film.
  • In some mini-games there is a chance that a marmoset will change the number of seconds remaining to a lower or higher value before being electrocuted. The chance is rarer in the Wii version.
  • This game is very similar to Mario Party 8.
