Ouro Preto ("Black Gold" in Portuguese) is a Brazilian city in the state of Minas Gerais. Blu, Jewel, Bia, Tiago, Carla, Nico, Pedro and Rafael encounter this city on their long journey to the Amazon in the second Movie.

About the City[]
Ouro Preto is located in Minas Gerais, Brazil. In the Brasilian Gold Rush it was a colonial mining town. Nowadays it is a popular tourist town and was declared as a World Heritage Site by the UNESCO due to its outstanding Baroque architecture.
In the Movie[]
When Blu, his family and friends leave Rio de Janeiro for a tiring journey to the Amazon, the first city they pass by is Ouro Preto, directly north of Rio. The movie shows them flying over the notable Church of Saint Francis of Assisi. Blu pulls out a cup from his fanny pack and starts to drink out of a fountain. He takes a beak full of water while he looks up and realizes that Nico, Pedro and Rafael are using the same water to wash themselves. Blu, disgusted, spits out the water.
